The Toyota Hybrid System (THS) features energy recovery and multiple operating modes. The 4-cylinder DOHC engine has a 1500 cm³ displacement, VVT-i, and multi-point fuel injection. The model allows for electric operation, enabling engine and generator rotation for analysis. The epicyclic engine and transmission include a CTV belt, gears, and a differential for transmission studies. The integrated brake and suspension system includes brake discs, calipers, and a semi-suspension setup to demonstrate vehicle dynamics.
Students gain hands-on experience in hybrid system analysis and energy regeneration. They learn how the internal combustion and electric engines interact, while also studying the functionality of the engine, transmission, brakes, and suspension.
